David heads the Private Client & Wealth Management Services practice group at Bellavia Blatt. His passion is finding and employing creative techniques to enable his clients to solve problems, capitalize on opportunities and otherwise accomplish their financial/tax goals. David has over 30 years of experience providing sophisticated wealth management services in the areas of estate planning, wealth transfer, charitable planning, business succession strategies, family governance and asset protection.
Prior to joining Bellavia Blatt, David had his own trust & estate law firm and served as the managing partner of Citrin Cooperman Wealth Management (and its successor firm, Apexium Financial LP). Previously, he was associate counsel and executive vice president of a national financial services firm that focused on advanced estate and tax planning for wealthy individuals and families.
David has authored articles on various topics including deferred compensation, life insurance, estate planning, personal financial planning, and taxation. His articles have been published in The New York Law Journal, The National Underwriter, the Westchester County Bar Journal, the Journal of Financial Planning, and The Legal Intelligencer. He has frequently been engaged to speak to various groups of tax, legal, and insurance professionals, including the Westchester Country Bar Association, Citrin Cooperman, the New York State Bar Association, Baruch College-Zicklin School of Business, and UJA.
David is chairperson of the Tax Section of the Westchester County Bar Association. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Westchester County Bar Association from 2013-2017 and belongs to its Trusts and Estates Committee. He is a member of the New York chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and previously served on Lincoln Financial Group’s Premier Partners Advisory Committee.
David earned his B.A. from Union College, his J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law, and his master’s in taxation from Pace University Lubin School of Business. He is admitted to practice law in the States of New York (1989) and Connecticut (1989) , and in the U.S. Federal Tax Court.
David resides in Rye Brook, NY and Danbury, Ct. He enjoys physical fitness, platform tennis, tennis, pickleball, yoga, swimming, reading, and travel. He is married and has two adult daughters.
